Terms of Use

By accessing or using the AI Disclosure Tool (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by Alym Amlani.

The AI Disclosure Tool is a web application designed for educational use in post-secondary institutions. It enables instructors to define AI usage policies for academic assignments, and enables students to complete structured disclosure forms that describe how they used generative AI tools when completing those assignments.

The typical workflow is as follows:

• An instructor creates a session and configures an AI usage policy.
• The Service generates a shareable student link.
• Students use the link to review the policy, confirm their understanding, and complete a disclosure form.
• Each disclosure describes what AI tools were used, how they were used, and at what stages of the assignment.
• The Service generates a PDF disclosure report that the student downloads and submits with their assignment.

The Service is designed to support transparency and reflective practice around AI use in academic settings. It is not an AI detection tool and does not analyze, scan, or evaluate student assignments. The Service does not make or inform determinations about academic misconduct. Any decisions regarding academic integrity remain solely with the instructor and institution.

Instructors are responsible for:

• Configuring an AI usage policy that reflects the requirements of their course and institution.
• Communicating the policy and workflow expectations to their students.
• Making all academic integrity decisions independently — the Service does not substitute for instructor or institutional judgment.
• Ensuring that their use of the Service complies with the policies of their institution.

Students are responsible for:

• Providing truthful and complete disclosures about their use of AI tools.
• Saving any return codes, receipt codes, or generated PDF reports as directed.
• Retaining shareable links to AI chat sessions where required by the instructor's policy.

  Submitting a false or misleading disclosure may constitute a violation of your institution's academic integrity policies.

You agree not to:

• Submit deliberately false or misleading disclosures.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.
• Use the Service for any purpose other than academic AI disclosure.
• Reverse-engineer, copy, or redistribute the Service.
• Use automated means to access the Service, except as expressly permitted.

The Service, including its design, interface, code, and content, is the intellectual property of Alym Amlani. Your use of the Service does not grant you any ownership rights. PDF disclosure reports generated by the Service belong to the student who created them.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The Service is intended as an academic aid and does not constitute legal, compliance, or institutional advice.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Alym Amlani shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, use, or profits, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. The Service is provided free of charge, and in no event shall total liability exceed CAD $100.

We strive to keep the Service available, but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without prior notice.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers and limitation of liability) shall continue in effect.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict of law principles.
